Main categories

The main categories will be judged by an apprentice Canadian Quilters Association judge.

The judge will award merit ribbons in each category. 

The judge will award merit ribbons for the following techniques:

  • Best Hand Appliqué
  • Best Machine Appliqué
  • Best Hand Quilting
  • Best Domestic Machine Quilting
  • Best Track Quilting
  • Best Piecing

The judge will award  one ribbon to her favourite entry by a first-time entrant to the show. First-time entrants are also eligible for the other merit ribbons described here.

The judge will also award one ribbon to her favourite entry.

Special categories

The President’s Challenge will be judged by the current OVQG president and cash prizes will be awarded. 

Other Quilted Items and Touch Quilts will not be judged. 

The Youth Quilts will not be judged. All participants will be awarded participation ribbons.

Viewer's choice ribbons

There will be 5 categories on the Viewers’ Choice ballot for voting by quilt show attendees:

  • Large Bed Quilts
  • Small Bed Quilts
  • Miniature, Wall, and Art Quilts
  • Other (President’s Challenge, Touch, Youth, Other Quilted Items)
  • Best in Show (viewer’s overall favourite entry)

Ribbons will be awarded.
