Quilt Show

To ensure our guild puts on a Great show again this year May 10, 11 & 12 (Mother’s Day weekend) we need you to check your schedule to see where you can lend a hand and work a shift (2 ½ to 3 hours), or more. Sign-up sheets will be available at the March, April, and May meetings, or you can sign up online. The types of volunteer opportunities are listed below.

We are using a service called to manage online sign ups. When you click  the Sign Up button, you will be taken to our list of tasks and shifts on the the website. After you choose your shifts, make sure you click the Save button on the top  right of the list of shifts. Later, if you need to, you can go back to the site to change or cancel a shift .

If you sign up for shifts at one of the monthly meetings, we will be adding your shifts to the SignUp website. This may take us a few days to complete. Please be patient.

Types of Volunteer Opportunities

General volunteer guidelines

White Glove Ambassadors Detailed description

You stroll through the quilt display area, helping the visitors view the quilts, answer questions, hand out programmes, chat with folks and generally be a smiling face from our Guild.

Cashiers Detailed description

Selling entrance tickets, stamping hands, keeping track of attendance numbers and being your helpful selves.

Door Monitors Detailed description

Monitoring exits, directing visitors, and stamping attendees’ hands at the entrance.

Floaters Detailed description

Replacing other volunteers temporarily if they need a break, filling vacant shifts if needed, setting up or taking down signs, etc.

Information Table Detailed description

Providing information to visitors about the show and the guild, handing out programs, providing directions regarding the local facilities, addressing problems/questions as they arise, lost and found, Viewer’s Choice ballot box.

Parking Directors Detailed description

Directing car traffic into the City View Curling Club parking lot off Capilano Drive, assessing overflow, re-directing overflow to alternate parking area behind the arena, or street parking nearby.

Set-Up (Thursday, 10am to 4pm) Detailed description

This is all about hanging up the quilts. If you can hang a curtain, you can hang a quilt (even my husband can do this one). All help is appreciated; bring a ladder, buddy/partner/offspring. The more we have, the easier & faster the job goes.

Take-Down (Sunday 4:30pm to 6pm) Detailed description

The quilts are taken down, bagged up and handed back to the quilters. There is a wide variety of tasks from climbing a ladder to sitting, so everyone can help. Once again, the more hands we have for this task the faster it goes.
